KPI Concepts was founded in 1984 by Craig Upton, beginning with custom craftsmanship, problem-solving, and a willingness to build solutions that met real customer needs. What started in a Burlington, Iowa garage grew into a manufacturing company serving retail, commercial, and custom production markets.

Craig Upton founded KPI Concepts in Burlington, Iowa, beginning with custom work and practical manufacturing solutions from a small garage workshop.
As demand grew, KPI moved into its first dedicated 4,200 square foot workshop, creating more room for equipment, projects, and production.
KPI continued growing its manufacturing footprint, expanding to support larger commercial projects, custom store fixtures, cabinetry, millwork, and production work.
KPI added a second building, increasing capacity and creating more space for manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, and expanded customer needs.
KPI expanded into composite-related work, including manufacturing support for wind turbine blade components and other foam and composite product applications.
Craig Upton retired, and KPI Concepts was purchased by Summit Equity Group , a Des Moines, Iowa private investment group. KPI continued its growth, operational development, and long-term manufacturing focus.
KPI expanded its retail fixture and manufacturing capabilities through the acquisition of Accent Industries, strengthening its position in custom commercial manufacturing.
Today, KPI Concepts operates as a multi-facility manufacturer in West Burlington, Iowa, supporting custom store fixtures, checklanes, cabinetry, millwork, metal fabrication, foam products, and commercial manufacturing projects.
